The BIG
Idea Team, Individual and Family Study Guide
Please take time to run
through this study guide with your team, on your own, or with your family so
that you can further apply and process the BIG Idea.
Big Idea:
The most compelling and lasting vision is one that
is rooted in our journey with God and encourages others in their relationship
with Him.
Key Verse:
Read Nehemiah 2:9 (The Message)
The generous hand of my God was with me in this…
The
Scoop:
It’s true that what some of us see is not what
others of us see. It is apparent
in the way we watch and interact with people, listen to people, decide what’s
important next, and it is especially true with casting vision for the future.
Nehemiah is much more than a man with a heart for
the things of God, he has vision for it. The rebuilding of the walls of
Jerusalem was not just something he was supposed to do, it was the result of
God's hand upon his life. The leader
within Nehemiah had the vision of God's purposes not only for the city of
Jerusalem but for his own life to become more full and meaningful.
Nehemiah’s
vision for rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem was much bigger than the task of
rebuilding the wall. His task had
lifelong spiritual implications in the lives of others. This vision comes from a deep desire or
burn in our heart. When our heart
aligns with God’s we embark on a journey where what has broken our heart turns
into the driving force for our lives.
This is called Holy Discontent.

but in the bigger picture have longer term implications?
2. Have you ever had a sleepless or restless night where you just can’t
shake an idea or feeling?

things?
4. What can you do to help others grow closer to God by taking next steps
in their relationship with Him?

Next? (take home/further processing/application)
What are some unknowns in your life that you can
pray about and give to God?
Remember: There is no greater influence you can have on a person’s life
than helping them find their way back to God and help them take next steps in
their relationship with Him.
